Do you have a mouse in your house?

Winter is upon us. Mice are looking for shelter and your home is their sanctuary. A female mouse can produce from 4 to 8 litters a year; each litter producing 6-8 mice. A pest control company that simply places snap traps or other forms of traps will not completely resolve your mouse infestation. Even if the poison, on the traps, kills the mice that are currently in your home it will not deter mice from entering in the future. A pest control company must determine how the mice are entering your home and formulate a plan to prevent them from coming back inside, either by placing steel wool into gaps or fixing weather seals on garage doors or entry doors.

Placing your garbage and recycling in bins with covers will help prevent mice from snooping around your home. Practicing good sanitation will reduce the risk of mice as well. Mice are very good scavengers therefore preventing them from eating your food is very difficult. Storage of food in plastic sealed containers is best practice however a hungry mouse is motivated enough to chew through them. Keep aware of mouse droppings inside your home as mice carry several bacterial diseases such as Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome (HPS).

Rodents, such as rats and mice, start fires by chewing on electrical wires that cause millions of dollars of structure damage each year. It has been estimated that rodents cause up to 20 percent of undetermined fires in the North America each year.
